Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 26, 2026
The short version.
- Your alarms, streaks, badges, and the photos / videos / audio you capture for missions are stored on your device.
- To verify a photo or short video mission, that image or clip may be sent to Google's Gemini AI for an automated check. We don't keep it on our servers.
- We don't sell your data, show ads, or run third-party analytics or trackers.
This Privacy Policy explains how Roostr ("Roostr", "we", "us") handles information when you use the Roostr iOS app and this website. By using Roostr you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
Information you create in the app
- Alarm & profile data โ your alarms, wake-up history, streaks, milestones, badges, goals, and settings. This is stored locally on your device (and in your private iCloud if device backup is enabled).
- Mission media โ photos, short videos, and audio you capture to complete a wake-up mission. These are saved locally on your device as "Morning Memories." They are not uploaded to Roostr servers.
Information processed to verify missions
- Photo / video verification (Google Gemini). To confirm you completed a camera mission (e.g., photographing an object, making your bed, or doing an exercise), a single photo or short video clip may be sent to Google's Gemini AI for an automated yes/no check. We do not store these on our servers, and we do not use them to identify you. Google processes them under its own terms.
- Speech missions (Apple). Spoken-affirmation and verse missions use Apple's speech recognition to check what you said. Audio may be processed on-device or by Apple per Apple's privacy practices. We do not store this audio on our servers.
Account & referral information
- Sign in with Apple (optional). If you choose to sign in, Apple gives us a stable user identifier, which we store on your device. We never receive your Apple password. If you choose to hide your email, we never see your real email address.
- Referrals. If you enter a referral code or share yours, we store the code and a redemption record in Apple's CloudKit so we can credit the referrer. This contains a code and a device/user reference โ not your name, contacts, or message history.
Purchases
- Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive your subscription status (active / not active) but never your card number or payment details.
Support
- If you contact us, we receive the name, email, and message you submit, plus basic app version and device-type info you include, so we can reply. Support email is delivered through Resend.
2. What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your personal information.
- We don't show third-party ads.
- We don't run third-party analytics or advertising trackers, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
- We don't access your photo library or contacts to mine data โ camera, microphone, and motion are used only to run the mission you started.
3. How we use information
- To run your alarms and wake-up missions, and verify mission completion.
- To maintain your streaks, milestones, and badges.
- To operate the referral reward program.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To keep Roostr secure and comply with law.
4. Third-party services
Roostr relies on a small number of providers to function. Their handling of data is governed by their own policies:
- Apple โ CloudKit, Sign in with Apple, in-app purchases, and speech recognition (policy).
- Google Gemini โ automated photo/video mission verification (policy).
- Resend โ delivery of support emails (policy).
- Vercel โ hosting of this website and the support form (policy).
5. Data retention & deletion
- On-device data (alarms, history, mission media) is removed when you delete the app from your device.
- Referral records stored in CloudKit can be deleted on request โ email us and we'll remove records associated with you.
- Support emails are retained only as long as needed to handle your request.
6. Security
Data sent to verification and support services is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). On-device data is protected by iOS app sandboxing and device encryption. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
7. Children
Roostr is not directed to children under 13 (or under the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g., the EEA/UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. We do not sell personal information. To exercise any right, contact us using the details below.
9. International users
Roostr is operated from the United States. If you use the app from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries where our providers operate.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the "Effective date" above and, for material changes, provide notice in the app or on this page.
